為慶賀2017年配樂大師約翰 威廉斯85歲生日，以及他與大導演史蒂芬史匹柏合作逾43年的情誼，SONY唱片公司特別推出這一套3CD+DVD的「終極精選」。專輯收錄兩位大師合作的眾多作品，除了以往發行過的錄音，還包含了75分鐘重新編曲演奏的嶄新錄音。而在附錄的DVD中，更收錄了兩人於2016年十月間的對話影像。
專輯將約翰威廉斯歷年來創作的重要電影配樂主題重新整理編曲，並由他親自指揮與他長期合作的戰友—波士頓大眾管弦樂團，演奏這些值得珍藏的不朽名曲。對於影迷來說，這樣的曲目內容當然是列在必需收藏的名單之列，對樂迷而言，本輯又是音樂性與娛樂性兼備的超級強片，而對於音響迷而言，絕對發燒的音樂音效，又提供了一張足以用為音響測試的名片。
